IMPORTANT NOTICE: I am listed on the November ballot as the “democratic candidate” for county legislator. HOWEVER, My platform is based off of the COMMONSENSE PLATFORM Values. This is a platform that was created to bridge the divide between both parties and is rooted in understanding that issues are specific to each region. URBAN politics is NOT the same as RURAL politics. This is NOT New York City! We also believe that initiatives should be backed up by facts, science, and research! The establishment has held us back from progress for FAR TO LONG!
Campaign Values and Principles
Through a strong COMMON SENSE effort we need to fight to get the 19th district and this county back on track! We must take on the political super majority in the county legislature by electing a candidate who can work against the grain and fight for COMMON SENSE results. No more catering to the decades long failed polices Such as Loss of our youth, a dwindling population, and an increased level of poverty. We must be able to support our AMERICAN values across the board and find REAL solutions moving forward. It's up to the people of this district to take the charge and elect someone who is walking right along side them.
KEY ISSUES
Community Revitalization: Community Revitalization is the implementation of intentional efforts that are likely to lead to measurable increases in access to employment, living wage jobs, healthcare, supportive services, community amenities, transportation, quality, and affordable housing stock.
Definition per the IHDA
Strengthen Labor Force: Support programs like the "Good Skills Career Builder Program". This is a program that is partnered with JCC to help train people in various trade positions, by helping them with certification and field training.
Sustainability: Making sure that we offer clean jobs, and clean power opportunities for Westfield and Ripley. We are blessed to live by the lake. We would greatly benefit from additional wind, solar, hydro, and nuclear power in our community. This would be to help lessen the stress on out electric grid. This would NOT be a full switch, just in extra option for power and energy in out community.
Economic Growth: Making sure the we support local business, offer tax leniences on property taxes for new and current small businesses. making sure that we spend responsibly, only spending on things that will invest into our future like, infrastructure, roadways, railways, education, sustainability, and energy.
Community Policing: making sure that police agencies are maintaining their commitment to community policing. Community policing is proven to lower crime, increase community safety, and strengthens trust between community members on law enforcement agencies.
Protect Our Hospital: There are several neighboring communities as well as our own that depend on Westfield Memorial hospital and Allegheny Health network for essential medical care. Without this hospital our community would be very negatively impacted.
Transparency & Accountability: It's time that we start holding our elected and appointed public officials accountable. As a candidate and/or as a representative for office, the voters select us to make decisions on their behalf. That is a great power ,and with great power comes great responsibility.
Amtrak & Rail: Our community and county would greatly benefit from an Amtrak station in Westfield. This would be a great use of our easy assess rail system to the downtown area of Westfield and would be a great resource to encourage people to visit and travel to our community. This would increase our efforts toward community revitalization.
